Oskar Reinhart Collection 'Am Römerholz'

The art collector and patron Oskar Reinhart (1885 -1965) left behind one of the most significant private art collections of the 20th century, on display at the collector’s former residence. Outstanding works of French Impressionism and its predecessors enter into an inspiring dialogue with masterpieces of older art, ranging from Hans Holbein the Younger and Lucas Cranach the Elder, Chardin and Goya to Cézanne, van Gogh and the early Picasso. Amongst the approx. 200 works of art, you will not only find masterpieces of Géricault, Manet and Toulouse-Lautrec, but also groups of works from Delacroix, Courbet, Daumier and Renoir. The estate is surrounded by a beautiful park populated by ancient trees and distinctive sculptures. In summer, visitors are able to order a picnic basket from the museums cafe and enjoy the tranquility of the garden’s nature, relaxing beneath Oskar Reinhart’s fruit trees. Audio guides in five languages, special guided tours, painting workshops for old and young and a program for children are provided all year round.
