Naturmuseum Winterthur

The Naturmuseum Winterthur guides young and old through the themes of our local natural environment. The main themes of our permanent exhibition: indigenous habitats with their animals and plants, landscape development, the world of minerals, models of our mountains, stories of the earth’s history (among other things) ichthyosauri from the Posidonia shale in southern Germany, local tertiary fossils and souvenirs of ethnic origin on board the clipper “Ida Ziegler”. In the Kerala children’s museum nature is made tangible for kids. No boredom here: listen to stories, make your own animal mask, pretend to be a small badger in an over-sized badger’s set or dive into various theme-boxes. There is also a lost and found office for nature which offers the opportunity to bring your own unique finds to compare with our existing collection. Current temporary exhibitions, presentations, guided tours, and events for young and old complement the diverse permanent exhibition.
