Mörsburg
Mörsburg Castle (Schloss Mörsburg) is located on a wonderful hillcrest with a panoramic view in the north-east of Winterthur. The powerful noble families, Kyburger and Habsburger upgraded the old fortress and converted it into a more noble residence to fit their social status, before it was handed on to the city of Winterthur in 1598. Mörsburg Castle along with Kyburg Castle (Schloss Kyburg) are among the most significant castles of northeastern Switzerland. The well-preserved castle tower and the enclosing walls that surround the great castle grounds are witnesses to the past greatness and importance of this monument of national importance. The museum, run by the Historischer Verein Winterthur (historical association Winterthur), displays domestic culture of the 17th and 18th century as well as outstanding weapon and glass collections and provides insight into the 1000-year-old castle history.
