Kunsthalle Winterthur

The Kunsthalle with its historical interior in the old town centre of Winterthur is a special and unusual place for contemporary art. Many a celebrated artist was discovered here! The two exhibition halls were already in use in the second half of the 19th century. The "Kunstverein Winterthur" displayed their collection here, before moving to the newly built art museum in 1916. Since the association Kunsthalle Winterthur was founded in 1980, four to six temporary exhibitions are shown annually, among which international positions are seen to be just as important as local ones.
